Lily Allen called out Grazia UK on Tuesday for falsely reporting that her husband, Sam Cooper, had filed for divorce because she supposedly cheated on him. The singer insists that the magazine’s “libelous” claim is a complete “lie.”
According to Grazia, Cooper moved out of the family home and filed legal documents to end their five-year marriage after Allen was supposedly unfaithful. The magazine quotes a clearly misinformed source as saying that the singer was having an affair with British rapper Skepta, which was “the final nail in the coffin” for her marriage to Cooper.
The outlet’s dubious insider further claims, “Several of Lily’s friends have sided with Sam, which has left her quite isolated from big parts of the group they once hung out with together.” The magazine’s account, however, is entirely bogus.
Shortly after the phony report was published, Allen responded by tweeting, “The story is untrue. Sam has not filed for divorce citing infidelity, neither have I. Wherever it came from, it’s a lie.” The singer then went on to slam Grazia for printing such a baseless article, saying, “Why @GraziaUK would choose to run this libelous, story where children are involved, without even checking is beyond comprehension.”
Allen and Cooper wed in 2011. They are parents to daughters Ethel, 4, and Marnie, 3.
